How to Choose an AI Agent Development Company

The questions to ask before hiring a team to build AI agents, from use-case discovery and guardrails to pricing, ownership and support.
Everyone builds AI agents now
Since agentic AI took off, almost every software agency lists AI agents as a service. Some have deep experience; others have wrapped a chatbot around a prompt. Whether you are hiring locally in Pakistan or anywhere else, these questions help you tell the difference.
1. Do they start with the problem or the technology?
A good partner asks about your process before talking about models: what work takes time today, what decisions are involved, which systems hold the data and how success will be measured. If the first conversation is about which LLM is best, be careful.
2. Can they integrate with your systems?
An agent is only as useful as the tools it can use. Ask how they will connect to your CRM, ERP, helpdesk, database or email, and whether they have done it before. Experience building real web and mobile software matters here as much as AI knowledge.
3. How do they handle safety and control?
Ask what the agent will be allowed to do, how permissions are limited, which actions need human approval, how mistakes are caught and how every action is logged. A team that cannot answer clearly has not run agents in production.
4. How will they test it?
Agents need evaluation against real scenarios, not just a demo. Ask how they will measure accuracy before launch and how they will monitor and improve it afterwards.
5. Who owns what?
Clarify ownership of the code, workflows, prompts and data, and whether you can switch model providers later. Avoid setups that lock you into one vendor without a good reason.
6. What will it cost to run?
Besides the build cost, agents have running costs: model usage, hosting and maintenance. A good partner estimates these up front and designs to keep them reasonable, for example by using smaller models for simple steps.
7. What happens after launch?
Agents improve with tuning. Ask about support, monitoring and how quickly they can adjust the agent when your process or policies change.
Start small
The safest way to evaluate a partner is a focused first project: one agent, one process, clear success measures, delivered in a few weeks. At EnicSoft we build AI agents with n8n, LangGraph and leading LLMs, connected to the systems you already use, and we are happy to scope a first project with you on a free call.
